Description:

Checking the functionality of a PROFINET device without having detailed knowledge about the content of the description file is often important for the user. This is what the GSD Editor does.

The GSD Editor is able to show the content of GSD files for PROFINET in an easy to understand table view. It also contains a function to check the accuracy of GSD files which helps to build a valid description file.
A built-in XML editor allows to make corrections without having to leave the tool. Additionally, an external XML editor may be called just by pressing a button.
Built-in sample files are a good starting point for editing own GSD files.

The tool is provided free of charge by PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation e.V. (Germany) to all members of PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI).
 

PROFINET GSD Checker Version 2.45
* Supports GSDML specification V2.45.
* Contains pre-built binaries for the additional XML parsers Apache Xerces-C++ V3.2.5 and libxml2 V2.12.7.
* Fixes performance and vulnerability issues.
* GSDX packages can be opened, and the signature validated.

* Included GSDML files can be checked and edited.

* GSDX packages can be saved. Note that in this case a valid signature will be lost.

NEW: Since V2.46, the PROFINET GSD Checker is called GSD Editor.

PROFINET GSD Editor Version 2.46:

* Renaming the tool to PROFINET GSD Editor

* Supports GSDML specification V2.46.

* The application has been migrated to .NET 8

* Fixes performance and vulnerability issues.
* Contains pre-built binaries for the additional XML parsers Apache Xerces-C++ V3.3.0 and libxml2 V2.14.3.
 

New for PROFINET GSD Editor V2.50

*  Version 2.50 Profinet GSDML files are supported

*  The application has been migrated to .NET 10

*  At startup the editor verifies the digital signature of its own executable, parser plug-ins and bundled libraries, and refuses to run if any file is unsigned or has been tampered with.

*  GSDX package signature validation now shows a warning when the package contains unknown data sheets, instead of reporting it as an error.

*  PROFINET GSD files can now be automatically upgraded from older GSDML versions to newer ones without manual editing.

   (The PROFINET GSDML Upgrade Tool has been retired after merging to GSDML-Editor)

*  A log file now records an audit trail of file actions (open, validate, save, save as, upgrade and close) attributed to the user, together with diagnostic entries for troubleshooting.

*  The Apache Xerces and libxml2 XML parsers are now enabled by default and can be switched off in the "Edit > Settings" dialog.
 

The PROFINET GSD Editor V2.50 comes with a SHA-256 hash and instructions on how users can verify the checksum.

Note: Starting from V2.42, the PROFINET GSD Checker, now Editor is a portable app. You can deploy (unzip) the app on every location and run the app without installation.
