Energy potential savings is a great topic of today´s automation world. The Institute for Automation & Industrial IT, Cologne University of Applied Sciences, has published an interesting study which confirms potential savings of 50% or more during idle phases as a result of PROFIenergy.

An exhibit at the PI booth at SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2010 will feature the first PROFIenergy pilot plant with live demonstrations of operating principles and user benefits.
Following conclusion of the specification work for PROFIenergy, PROFIBUS & PROFINET International (PI) has now completed the related test specification and test system functionality for certification. The certification tests of the energy management functions will take place in the PI Test Labs accredited for PROFINET. Dr. Peter Wenzel, Executive Director of PI Germany, handed out the first two PROFIenergy certificates for devices manufactured by Siemens at SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2010.
