Specification and maintenance of the Safety Technology Profiles for PROFIBUS DP and PROFINET IO

Status: < Top

In 2003 the WG finalized the specifications "PROFIBUS Environment for PROFIsafe slaves, V1.0" and "PROFIsafe test and certification, V1.0", both approved by BGIA and TÜV.
In cooperation with TÜV a draft version of "PROFIsafe for PA Devices" according NAMUR NE97 was created. By end of 2003 mapping work for the safety functions of the IEC 61800-5-2 into "PROFIsafe for PROFIdrive" has been started .

In 2004 profile extensions "PROFIsafe for PA Devices" and "PROFIsafe for PROFIdrive" were published. The basic PROFIsafe profile has been refined and published as version V1.30. Together with TC3/WG1 the definition of a PROFIsafe profile for robots was started. The definition of the necessary parameters for the assessment of safety functions in machinery according IEC 62061 and ISO 13849 was started too. A kick-off meeting for "PROFIsafe on PROFINET IO" took place in July 2004.

In 2005 the WG created a document "PROFIsafe on PROFIBUS DP and PROFINET IO" and a corresponding "Test and Certification Specification". PROFIsafe-Specification V1.30 was approved by BGIA and TÜV. The Environment-Specification V1.1 was published and a starterkit 3.2.1 with certified driver software and a PROFIsafe-Layer-Tester for field device manufacturers were made available. The WG delivered an EMI Testboard to BGIA and released amendments for PA-Devices and PROFIdrive. The PROFIsafe Specification Version 2.0 (V1-mode and V2-mode) was released in September and the appropriate initial starterkit 3.3 was ready for delivery by december 2005.

In 2006 the WG started to create a concept for iParameterization via an iPAR-Proxy-FB, to extend the environment specification into a version V2.0. The WG will continue to work on profiles for robots and other devices for the automotive industry as well as for the process industry. A consortia of host manufacturers started a contract work for the development of an F-Host tester to be finished by Hanover Fair 2006. The WG plans to support PROFIsafe for "Remote IO for PA".
