Organizational Structure
With more than 1,400 members around the world, PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International) is the world’s largest organization for industrial communication. The local representation with Regional PI Associations (RPAs) in 25+ countries and more than 30 PI Competence Centers (PICCs) in 16 countries ensures worldwide PROFIBUS and PROFINET support.
The PI Support Center (PISC) in Karlsruhe, Germany, is the international point of contact and the communication center for members, technical committees, working groups, press contacts, RPAs, and other liaison partners.

PI is the umbrella organization for all RPAs worldwide. PI has engaged PNO (PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation e. V.), Germany to establish Technical Committees (TC) and Working Groups (WG) in order to define and maintain the open and vendor independent PROFIBUS and PROFINET technology.
PNO is a non-profit organization with its headquarter in Karlsruhe, Germany. Members of PROFIBUS International, have the right to join the Technical Committees (TC) and Working Groups (WG) of PNO. A member may take an active part in maintenance and further development of the PROFIBUS and PROFINET technology. This guarantees openness and vendor independence of the PROFIBUS and PROFINET technology.
