Profile
The PROFINET Competence Center - ZHW is part of the national Network for Embedded and Distributed Solutions EDiSoN that composes of different laboratories and institutes of universities of applied sciences. EDiSoN performs support for PROFINET with three cooperating laboratories in three different language areas of Switzerland.
Demo-Sytems
The institute holds its own development environment and demo-system. Some of the equipment is also used for educational purposes in the bachelor courses.
- PROFINET CBA demo-system with a uniform part in all EDiSoN locations. It is used as reference installation and to allow the execution of the same exercises in training. The modular demonstration system is specific to the ZHW and consists of five coupled independent stations of a production system. Each of the stations is implemented on a different PROFINET platform, i.e. Windows, VxWorks, Linux, S7-300 CPU 314-2DP with CP343-1, SoftSPS WinLC. The work pieces are transferred through all stations. They will be measured, drilled, tested, sorted and stored by color. The coupling of the stations is done by PROFINET only.
- PROFINET IO demonstration system, which is also used as test environment for the stack development team. The installation is combined of Phoenix and Siemens PROFINET IO components.
- PROFINET IRT development is based on Siemens ERTEC 400 development kits.
- PROFINET IO - Hardware/Software Development is based on a Motorola ColdFire Processor with Linux Operating System for a Swiss Customer.
Further experience of the PICC:
The InES implemented a PROFINET IO stack on a Linux System. This will be the basis of a commercial product in 2006.
Together with an industrial planner InES is developing a PROFINET IO module as well as an evaluation and training platform that is available in Q2-2006.
Training, Workshops, Seminars:
Training is given mainly in German and English. Corses in French and Italian are provided by the EDiSoN network partners.
