The 1,000th certificate for passing the test by a PROFIBUS test lab was awarded during the SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2004 trade fair in Nuremberg to Phoenix Contact for the Fieldline component FLM BK PB M12 DI8 M12.
Fieldline is the bus-independent I/O system with degree of protection IP 65/67 from Phoenix Contact. The FLM BK PB M12 DI8 M12 device represents a DP-V1-conforming slave to the PROFIBUS system and concurrently couples up to 16 digital or analog I/O devices via the powerful Fieldline modular local bus. The precise local bus diagnostics is typically represented in error frames and adjusted via simple configurations for PROFIBUS.
Open technologies require a company-independent setup as working platform for their care, further development and distribution to the market, but also in particular company-independent quality assurance. PROFIBUS International (PI) completes these tasks for the PROFIBUS and PROFINET communication technologies. A certification procedure based on the standard EN 45000 was implemented to provide quality assurance of the PROFIBUS and PROFINET communication. This certification is geared toward providing users with the assurance for error-free function of the communication for operating devices and systems from varying manufacturers. Worldwide, PI accredited seven manufacturer-independent operating test labs: in Germany, the Netherlands, the USA, Japan, and China. Only these test labs can perform device tests that form the basis for granting the certificate through the PNO certification office.
