PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International) will actively address the topic of Industry 4.0 for the first time at SPS IPC Drives in Nuremberg (November 24-26, 2015). Under the motto “PROFINET – the Backbone for Industry 4.0”, the technologies for communication and data structuring already available today can be examined in various presentations relating to PROFIBUS, PROFINET, and IO-Link and discussed with experts.
The first example of this is the paper airplane model, which demonstrates parallel PROFINET IO and TCP/IP communication as well as standardization of the interfaces. A single sheet of paper with personalized printing will be specially folded and flipped to form an illustrative flying object.
Another example is the live demonstration of PROFIBUS and PROFINET for process automation, which points out the benefits of digital technology for end users and plant manufacturers. PI will demonstrate implementation of FDI, easy device replacement, diagnostics according to NE107, and associated user benefits. The diversity of companies represented here underscores the vendor neutrality and the open standard of PROFINET and PROFIBUS.
With the new white paper “PROFINET – The solution platform for process automation“, PI identifies future trends and presents how PROFINET is also becoming established in the process automation sector. A large number of new products with PROFINET and PROFIBUS at the trade fair booth will show that this development is already fully underway.
IO-Link will exhibit another device record of over 150 products and more than 32 manufacturers. This impressive product variety will give visitors a small glimpse at the devices offered on the market. IO-Link demonstrates a path for standardization and continuity of data from the sensor to the cloud.
