PROFIBUS&PROFINET International (PI) participates in the ISA 104 EDDL booth at ISA EXPO 2009 in Houston, TX, USA. The ISA EXPO to be held October 6-8, 2009, is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate PI’s technological solutions for process automation. Major topics presented by PI are digital automation based on PROFIBUS, the use of wireless to connecting sensors as well as the demonstration of strengths of the Electronic Device Description Language (EDDL) technology used in the setup and maintenance of field devices.
ISA 104 supports EDDL which is internationally standardized in IEC 61804-3. EDDL is well proven in many applications and supported by all manufacturers providing field instruments for process automation.
PI has adopted EDDL as a core integration technology and supports its further developed within the EDDL Cooperation Team (ECT). A huge number of devices with registered EDDL files are available, providing access to custom features and capabilities of process devices, for instance pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical, valve positioners, motor starters, motor drives and converters.
The ISA 104 booth at ISA EXPO will include displays of the latest industrial automation solutions, including hosts, handheld devices, transmitters, drives, valve positioners and workbenches. In addition, the exhibit will present live demonstrations of FOUNDATION™ fieldbus, HART and PROFIBUS technology.
The ISA104 committee is sponsoring a series of educational seminars at ISA EXPO concerning the end-user benefits of EDDL and the latest ISA 104 standards developments. The schedule includes:
