The main theme of the PI Conference 2017 is "Network of the Future – Shaping Today the Production of Tomorrow”.

PROFIBUS Nutzerorganisation e.V. (PNO) will hold its 5th PI Conference on March 22-23, 2017, in which PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and IO-Link technologies and applications will be presented and discussed against the background of the "Industry 4.0" trend. The football stadium "Commerzbank Arena" in Frankfurt has been chosen as the site of the event. The sports environment is intended to encourage participants to enter into healthy debates on current and future-oriented issues.

The main theme of this PI Conference will be "Network of the Future – Shaping Today the Production of Tomorrow". The objective will be not to speculate about the future but rather to show the role that PI technologies will play in future production on the basis of specific scenarios and use cases. Industrial communication will have a key role in this. Increasing networking of machines and systems, data transport to the cloud, stringent real-time requirements for I/O data, remote service, diagnostic data, and constantly increasing bandwidth requirements of Ethernet-based data communication place ever greater demands on industrial networks. A networked production like this requires intelligent and flexible communication systems. This viewpoint promises exciting discussions and conversations among experts regarding the shaping of the "Production of Tomorrow".

The 2017 PI Conference will again offer technology-specific workshops in addition to presentations. On the basis of real-world examples and live models, these workshops will provide users with in-depth insight into the advantages and benefits, of using PI technologies. The event will be rounded out with a panel discussion.
