New executive team at PI Germany

At its General Members Assembly on April 4, 2011, PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International) Germany elected its executive committees to serve for the next three years.

Confirmed in office were Joerg Freitag (Siemens AG) as Chairman of the Board and Klaus-Peter Lindner (Endress + Hauser Process Solutions) as a member of the Board of Directors. Newly elected to the Board of PI Germany was Prof. Dr. Frithjof Klasen of the Institute Automation & Industrial IT (AIT), Cologne University of Applied Sciences. The long-term member of the board and initiator of the PROFIBUS technology Prof. Dr. Klaus Bender did not run for reelection for age reasons.

The General Meeting also confirmed Advisory Board members Dr. Thomas Albers (Wago), Christoph Behler (Mitsubishi Electric), Juergen George (Pepperl+Fuchs), Martin Mueller (Phoenix Contact), and Gerhard Mutter (Sick). Newly elected to the Advisory Group were Uwe Graeff (Festo) and Hedwig Leemans (Emerson). This marks the first time that the major control system manufacturer Emerson has become involved in this executive committee of PI Germany.

In order to simplify working and coordination processes within the technology committees and working groups, the General Members Assembly also approved a new organizational structure. A flexible matrix structure will enable better visibility and coordination of committees and their working groups in the future. As Committee Leaders Uwe Ruttkamp (Siemens AG), Prof. Dr. Christian Diedrich (ifak), Harald Hammon (Siemens AG), Achim Laubenstein (ABB), Dr. Raimund Sommer (Endress+Hauser), and Joachim Lorenz (Siemens AG) are also members of the Advisory Board.

The term of the Chairman and the Advisory Board is three years. The next regular election is therefore scheduled for the 2014 General Members Assembly.
