The ?Integration INTERBUS? working group of PROFIBUS International was established in mid 2004 with the objective of specifying a solution for integrating INTERBUS in PROFINET IO. The solution encompasses definitions regarding the subjects cyclical process data, acyclical parameters, diagnostics, alarms, time behavior, start-up behavior, engineering (project planning, start/stop). The draft version of the document has been available since November 2004 and is expected to be released in July 2005.
PROFIBUS International has decided to expand the assignment of the working group. It now includes defining a concept which will allow for the integration of various fieldbuses in PROFINET IO based on a uniform plan. The next step will include addressing fieldbuses such as DeviceNet, CC-Link, CANopen, Foundation Fieldbus and Modbus. Upon demand, this assignment will be expanded to additional fieldbuses.
The tasks are performed on a fieldbus-specific level in parallel working subgroups in which PROFINET experts collaborate with experts of the respective fieldbuses. The first meeting for the expanded task assignment took place on April 6, 2005.
